The English Department at Georgetown offers its warmest congratulations to Dr. Ricardo Ortiz, who has received honorable mention for the 2008 Alan Bray Memorial Book Award for his book, Cultural Erotics in Cuban America.

The Alan Bray Memorial Book Award is presented in honor of a scholar whose two landmark books have been profoundly influential in gay and lesbian studies.  The prize is awarded to the best book in lesbian, gay, or queer studies in literature and cultural studies, all broadly construed.

The award will be presented at the GL/Q cash bar at MLA on Monday, 29 December 2008, at 5:15.
