The Lannan Program
Founded in 1989, the Lannan Program is devoted to contemporary poetry and poetics, particularly emergent writing. The program consists of the GU Poetry & Seminar Series, the Lannan Fellows Program, the Writers-In-Residence program, and the annual Literary Symposium and Festival. Additionally, a distinguished writer holds the position of Lannan Visiting Chair in Poetics for one to three years at a time.
As a whole, the Lannan Literary Programs offer a unique opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to immerse themselves in literary events and the contemporary literary world.
Graduate students in English can apply for a position working with the Lannan Program at Georgetown by indicating their intentions on their application for admission. The student who hold this position assists with a variety of Lannan Program activities including poetry readings and seminars, community outreach, and an on-campus symposium in the spring.
