New Student Orientation

Welcome! As a new student, you no doubt have many questions about the program and getting started. This page will serve as a starting point for you. If you still have questions or are unsure, please contact Jenny Napolitano, the Academic Coordinator.

Orientation date for Fall 2009: Monday, August 31, 2009

An orientation session is held for students entering in the fall semester only, and is always scheduled for the Monday before the first day of classes. At this meeting, you'll meet the Director of Graduate Studies and Academic Coordinator, along with your fellow classmates.

Advising

All new students are assigned to a faculty advisor for registration purposes. This is not intended to be your research advisor (though you may choose this person as your research advisor in your second year). This advisor will approve your course selections for registration your first and second years.

Registration

Registration opens to new graduate students on the day of the orientation. Please do not try to register before you attend orientation. However, we do recommend that you browse the list of courses and select your top four choices. After the orientation session, you will meet with your assigned faculty advisor, who will walk you through the registration process.
