The deadline to apply for the AB/MA program is
APRIL 1, 2017.
The English Department’s AB/MA program allows qualified undergraduate Georgetown University students to enroll in up to two graduate-level English courses during each semester of their senior year. Interested students must apply during their junior year. Two of these courses will also count toward the undergraduate Major in English.
The Graduate School considers AB/MA students part of the Master's program, and they are automatically admitted following their undergraduate graduation, though they are not obligated to continue.
APPLYING TO THE AB/MA PROGRAM
Interested applicants should first contact Academic Administrator Jessica Marr to notify her of their interest in the program. Then, they should follow the standard application procedure for the Master's program during their junior year. The GRE requirement will be waived.
CONTINUING TO THE MASTER'S PROGRAM WITH FUNDING
AB/MA students who wish to earn an MA in English at Georgetown should prepare an updated application during the fall of their senior year so that they may be considered for funding for the remainder of their graduate studies. This updated application is due JANUARY 15, 2017 and should include:
- A statement of purpose that makes an explicit rationale for your suitability for the funding package/s you would like to be considered for
- An updated transcript
- An updated writing sample
- Three letters of recommendation
We will continue to waive the GRE requirement. Students may email this updated application directly to Jessica Marr.
Remember, even if you are not awarded funding, you are still admitted to the Master's program. If you do not wish to continue, please notify Jessica by the time you graduate.
If you have any questions about either the AB/MA program or the MA program,
please contact the Academic Administrator, Jessica Marr.
