Warrior Scholar Project Hosted by English Department June 2017

With a mission that “empowers enlisted military veterans by providing them with a skill bridge that enables a successful transition from the battlefield to the classroom,” the Warrior-Scholar Project (WSP) is a week-long session hosted at Georgetown University in June. This program is very much in sync with two of Georgetown’s mission statements: “Cura Personalis” or care of the person and “Women and Men for Others.”

The WSP teaches veterans in a “boot camp-style” setting what it takes to transition into a degree program with the end goal of assisting them in their journey toward earning a degree. Georgetown often hosts this program during the summer months, spearheaded by English professor Kathryn Temple. With research specialties that span law, culture, and the humanities, to teaching specialties in graduate education and professional writing, it only makes sense that Professor Temple is the one leading the WSP boot camp at Georgetown.

We are proud, in 2017, to be one of fifteen top American higher education institutions across the country to host this program, free of charge, to our active and veteran service members. Thank you for everything you do!
