Srinivas Singavarapu Interviewed on NPR

Srinivas Singavarapu, ICCR Visiting Professor at Georgetown, lecturing in both the Department of English and the School of Foreign Service, was interviewed by NPR for a story on the Indian filmmaker DG Phalke (known as the Father of Indian Cinema). The story is scheduled to air at 5.50 pm ET today May 3rd on 88.5 FM.

S.V. Srinivas is the ICCR Visiting Professor at Georgetown University for 2012-13. He will offer courses in the Department of English and School for Foreign Service. A Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore and the coordinator of the Centre’s Culture: Industries and Diversity in Asia (CIDASIA) research program, Srinivas has a Ph.D. from the University of Hyderabad. His research interests include cultural and creative industries and comparative studies in popular culture. An important focus of his work has been film stars and their fan clubs.

He was a Visiting Fellow at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore (2004-05) and Visiting Research Fellow at the Slavic Research Centre, Hokkaido University (2010). He was awarded the New India Foundation fellowship in 2005.
