Ricardo Ortiz Announced as Member of Judging Panel for 2017 Caine Prize

Ricardo Ortiz, Chair of the English Department, has been announced as one of five judges to serve on a panel for The 2017 Caine Prize for African Writing. The judges will meet in May to determine which entries make the shortlist, and the award will be announced in July at Senate House, London (for the first time in the prize’s 18-year history!) in collaboration with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).

The chair of judges for this year’s prize, Nii Ayikwei Parkes noted: ”I am ecstatic to be asked to chair the panel for this year’s Caine Prize and look forward to working with this incredible assembly of judges.”
