Maureen Corrigan To Receive Honorary Degree
Professor Maureen Corrigan will receive an honorary degree from her undergraduate alma mater, Fordham University, at this year’s commencement ceremony on May 16, 2026. Corrigan, who graduated Fordham with a B.A. in English in 1977 and went on to receive her M.A. and Ph.D. from The University of Pennsylvania, is being recognized for her multifaceted career as an author, scholar, Georgetown professor, and critic.

Fordham’s President Tania Tetlow particularly cites Corrigan’s 36-year-career as book critic for the NPR program Fresh Air as inducing listeners to approach literature “with discernment and delight.”
