Published by Fordham University in their international journal Traditio, The Twenty-five Joys of Our Lady, An English Marian Rosary of the Fifteenth Century from Bodleian Library MS Don. d. 85 explores a previously unpublished fifteenth-century devotional. John Hirsh argues the manuscript amounts to a Marian rosary. A careful study of MS Don. d. 85 suggests how Marian rosaries were developed and adapted. Furthermore, references to Christ’s passion through their impressions on Mary are a prime example of how late-medieval spirituality viewed the relationship between Christ and Mary.
Congratulations, John!
