Caetlin Benson-Allott to Become Next Editor of Cinema Journal

Caetlin Benson-Allott has been selected as the next Editor of Cinema Journal: the quarterly publication for the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.  After a one year apprenticeship, Benson-Allott will hold the editor position for five years.

Caetlin’s works, such as Killer Tapes and Shattered Screens: Video Spectatorship from VHS to File Sharing and Remote Control, have made an impression upon the Media Studies academic community, as have her shorter pieces, such as the essay that won the Film Quarterly’s 50th Anniversary Review Essay Competition in 2008. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Modern Language Association’s Screen Arts and Culture Forum and sits on multiple editorial boards.

As Cinema Journal Editor, Caetlin plans to:

“…utilize “In Focus” as a forum for outreach within our membership and to bring in new authors and expand our membership, thereby expanding the interdisciplinary mission of SCMS. She is also committed to include more television, radio, and other media scholarship in Cinema Journal and soliciting interviews with and scholarly profiles of media makers and industry executives.”

Caetlin’s first issue as editor will be published in Summer 2018.

Congratulations, Caetlin!
