English M.A. students contributing to conferences both nationally and abroad may be eligible for travel grants to cover some of their expenses. Students who have been accepted to present their work at conferences are encouraged to apply.
Upon the submission of receipts for covered expenses, students presenting at conferences will be reimbursed up to $300. Receipts must indicate method of payment, e.g., "paid with credit card." Students may request one reimbursement only.
Students are not eligible to receive travel grants after they have graduated.
How to Apply
Before you leave, write to Professor Patrick O'Malley, the Director of Graduate Studies, to ask for approval. Please include conference details and briefly explain your involvement.
- When you return from the conference, submit some proof of your participation -- for example, a conference program with your name in it -- to the Office Coordinator, Jill Crenshaw along with receipts for registration, transportation, accommodations, and other expenses (not including food and beverage purchases). She will forward your request to the English Department's financial administrator.
- If your request is approved, the English Department will reimburse your expenses up to the amount of $300.
