The department is excited to announce that Dr. Caetlin Benson-Allott will be a Mercator Fellow for the month of June 2023 at the Graduiertenkolleg “Configurations of Film” at Goethe University Frankfurt. “Configurations of Film” brings together a group of scholars and PhD candidates working together on questions related to the past and present location, usages and formation of film, media and film cultures beyond the apparatus of cinema. In addition to leading research sessions with doctoral candidates, the Mercator Fellow offers a public lecture at the end of their residency that is subsequently published in Meson Press’s “Configurations of Film” series. Dr. Benson-Allott’s work at the Graduiertenkolleg will connect her previous work on materialist approaches to film and video spectatorship with her current research on media and escapism.

Congratulations, Professor Benson-Allott!
